Of all the gods, Pyros is undoubtably the most revered among the humans. He is known
as the purifier, leader of the flame, and the Honored Father. His clerics are the most stoic and
devout. They must keep oaths of chastity and marriage is forbidden amongst the priests. Pyros
gives guidence and protection and is easily one of the more powerful dieties. His priests are
taught to attempt conversion whenever possible and try to enlarge the flock at annual
celebrations. The flock is kept in order by the knowledge that Pyros will protect their souls
during the "Unmaking," which is the unravelling of the universe. All other souls will be cast to
the wind after they die, and will be torn apart in the Unmaking. The priests speculate that the
other gods will be also destroyed in the Unmaking and thus believe that all other religions are
inherently inferior. Power is concentrated in the city of Pyriadin, which is the capital of the
Northlands. Pyros is the god that also produces most of the paladins in the world, as the vows of
paladinhood pale to the vows necessary for priesthood. The Church of Pyros creates most of the
laws in the city, and often act as Judge, Jury and Executioner. Priests are considered to be above
the local laws in Pyradin. The priests of Pyros conecntrate on making money through their
followers through good deeds and deposit all of their wealth in the Church, making the Church a
formidable economic power. Thus, the Church also has a great deal of political power as well,
as voters follow the guidence of Pope Argus IV with a frightening
devotionalism.
Views on other religions:
Luminaria is the godess of the Moon, fortune and divination. Her priests are powerful
healers, and unlike the Pyridians, concentrate on charity for the poor and helping others. They
care little for material gain, and have been known to heal both sides of a war. The clerics often
refuse to fight unless provoked, but are given a wide bearth because of their powers. Luminaria
is known as Lyrissia Silvereyes by the elves, and is the second most respected religion by these
exotic individuals. Most clerics give off a feeling of peace and well-being and are often hired as
prophets. Since the clerics must retain a certain amount of purity to cast their spells, few people
will bother them and can often find refuge in almost any city or countryside. They believe that
their purpose in life is to aid others and help people find their destiny.
Views on other religions:
Gaea is the Earth Mother. She [created] us all. We are her and she is in us. Elves are
closer to the [Land] then humans. We are the hands of Gaea. She takes us when it is fit for us to
[leave.] She changes constantly as the trees grow. Gaea is eternal and powerful. We do not fear
her. Her [Life] is our bloodline. There is no "good" or "evil" in her eyes. We are only as we
were born. We are taught to respect others, and we shall. We are taught to love life, and we
shall. Little else is of great importance, for we are always in the arms of
our Mother.
Views on ohter Religions:
Often known as the Lord of the Nine Hells, Lord of the Pits and Overseer of the damned,
Deaminos is the feared God of Chaos and Evil. Deaminos clerics are known for their amazing
powers and lack of morality. Human sacrifice is often made to Deaminos, as well as ritual
scarring and other rituals too horrible to describe. The followers of Deaminos believe in allying
themselves with the worlds beyond our own and try to infuse this energy into their bodies. Some
are successful, while others simply die in the processes. The process of selecting priests is
shrouded in mystery, but few survive the selection. Those that do survive are said to be given
alliance with a deamon or other-worldly creature that bonds their energy to that of the priest.
Sometimes the process causes the priest to develop frightful mutations, but always imbues the
neophyte with incredible power. The priests are extremely secretive, and follow a strict
heirarchy kept in line by the High Priest himself. Still, assassinations are common amongst the
group, as the deamons they represent jockey for position in their planes. The deamons are said
to have a strict heirarchy as well that is always in flux. Apparently, by giving the priests part of
their netherwordly energy, the deamons gain status or power, though the process is unclear.
Some may say that the deamons play a kind of "game" with the humans they control. Deaminos
is the immortal lord of darkness, and does not seem to stop the chaos that rages around him. In
fact, some reports say that he sponsers some of the chaos himself. Once in a while, the Dark
Lord will give orders to his clerics, which must be obeyed. This is one of the few times when
the priests can be reasoned with, but any diplomatic actions agreed to at this time would be
shaky at best. Oddly enough, some priests have been known to make diplomatic actions for their
"sponser" and make peace with a city. The lord of such a city SHOULD NOT take this
agreement to be a representation of the entire religion, but just of that deamon or group of
deamons. Deamons love to play in politics and with countries, so lords should be careful not to
attack the priests unjustly, for the death of a powerful priest is said to be heard by Deaminos
himself. Adventurers should also be careful, for Deaminos is not a power to
be toyed with.
Views on other Gods:
The clerics and religions of the Kalgas and Marin priests will be described soon.
Look for "BEYOND THE MOUNTAIN," and enter another world.
Go back
Luminaria- A woman's religion, soft and weak with litle backbone.
Gaea- Tree loving environmentalists that often get in the way of progress and
profit.
Marin- Lawless deviants that try to mimic our system of peaceful retribution.
Kalgas- Lawful priests but too withdrawn from this world to be effective. Mismanagement of
manpower.
Deaminos- The name says it all.
Pyros- A sad bunch of priests that leach money from others. Still, they are competent and are to
be respected.
Marin- A fearful god who should be kept at a good distance. They are useful for battle and are
honorable.
Gaea- A rather odd godess that seems to be part of the land itself.
Kalgas- This god shows what can happen when laws are taken to the extreme.
Deaminos- The Gatekeeper has been known to rend the strands of destiny itself. He is a fearful
creature to be watched over. One can only pity his followers.
Pyros- Humans who disillusion themselves with money.
Luminaria- Lyrissia Silvereyes opens our eyes and our souls. She is the [daughter] of our
Mother.
Marin- Warriors who fight for little reason besides their own emotions.
Kalgas- Clerics that try to forge "order" from that which is [natural] and orderless.
Strange indeed.
Deaminos- We fear them most of all. They bring which is [not] to our Lady. They are welcome,
but are dangerous. They do not understand the [balance].
Pyros- Food for Deaminos, fools that play their pitiful games but know nothing
of the real world.
Luminaria- Star-gazers whose bodies will soon be ashes and their eyes torn
from their skulls.
Marin- Vigilantes that try to stop our rise to power. They will be crushed and their mountain
sundered before their eyes.
Gaea- A mysterious godess of this world, who embues the land with her power. A force to be
feared and watched.
Kalgas- Mysterious fools that try to bring order to chaos. They are failures and will always be
failures.
